How did you get your nickname?

Post by Joachip »

Okay, this is silly, but I'll start.

This girl once told me: "if you replace one single letter in your name, it says joachiP and that's quite nerdy... just like you!"

Thought that was funny, so I kept it ever since. How about you guys?

I wanted a scientific (sounding) name that meant alien and life(form). So i took xeno and bio or bios and put it together. I changed the s to a z so it would be a unique spelling.
I would like to change the bioz part to something evil, but I used the name so long so its better to keep it.

Hmmm, it's a bit long and complex for me.
At the time I was playing around with making 3D pictures. I found a tutorial about how to do lava (with 3ds max). This makes me think about the word magma (you follow ?). Then I decided to use it as nickname. But unfortunately, in all forum I wanted to suscribe, the name magma was taken by another person.
Then I remembered a very strange and unique french band called magma ( http://youtu.be/FlJKKtgreqw ), the leader's name is christian vander (the drummer in the video). I decided to put vander after magma and voila!

Well, c.vander doesnt look as in the pictures today, he's far more older

That was really something I always wanted to know about the people in this forum.

bad luck I don't have any story for my name as it is my real name but hey they've got more on wikipedia about the origins of this name, it's funny.

Oh I also have an unrelated question, on one of my projects in buzz I have the BPM of 70 on TBP of 8 and I wanted to make a session in logic pro with the same tempo. but I just don't know how to do the math as I only have one tempo which can be set on 4/4 bars. the default tempo in logic pro is set to 120 on 4/4. so could you please help me understand the math of converting buzz(BPM/TBP) to other DAWs? thanks a lot.

Translated it means sound scenery.

Nice coincidence, that it is has an alliteration in English too, never translated it before. Let's see:

son coulisse • non
sonido colisa • no!
suono quinta • anche no!
звук маскиро́вка • нет!
音响 场面 (yīnxiǎng chǎngmiàn) • 不 (bù)

cool flashback, i think i started a buzzchurch thread about this years ago! :D

I was studying various new-agey/occult books long ago and came upon the idea of meditating while listening for my "true name". I heard the name "sashareen". years later while dabbling in some theology studies with a friend, i came across the same name in a book, which (according to the book) roughly translates to "my father's father is my lord" in some old semitic language. cool coincidence!

i added the Zs to make it more unique to the internet. I've never had to add a barcode or numbers to my handle to make it a unique login. XD

if one can remember how to spell it, it's now ridiculously easy to find everything i've posted online. this is great if someone's looking for my music, but maybe a little embarassing if they find the myspace page i've been meaning to delete.

deus and diabolus are Latin, but many of the European members of this board have already figured that out.

Combined, it's like a yin/yang concept. It was great for not having to think of new nicknames all the time, but not so great for rolling off the tongue, so as of January 11 of this year (my 40th birthday), I "murdered" deusdiabolus.

Had a dream. Woke up. Wrote down "EVELON" in capital letters (as it seemed important) in my note-book.

Weeks later I flipped through the note book and figured "hmm, that was a pretty cool name".
Still don't remember the dream though.

Isn't strobo = blinking? Blinking tone, as in fast beep-beep-beep?

I was naming worms. In the game "Worms: Armageddon". This was many years ago. I named a whole team of eight according to this scheme (surname of famous dead artist, random surname preposition, character class). The name Mozart von Robot stuck in the back of my head, and I relatively recently started using it for my instrumental side project.
