Changing PVST-Data-Folder

Post by Klangkulisse »

I am trying tom change the PVST-Data folder by using the global preferences in Polac-Loader.
Changing from standard path

C:\Users\Klangkulisse\AppData\Roaming\Polac\VST Loader\1.1.10

to a new created folder inside buzz directory

C:\program files x86\Buzz\Gear\PVST-Data

But that does not work. If I rescan VST with Polac Loader the result ends up to zero VSTs and I get no VST names by clicking into machine view background.
Do I have to change something else, do I have to tweak registry entries?

Confused, because I had it that way. I had a harddisk crash recently and I have to do a new install.

Using latest buzz 1502

make sure your user "Klangkulisse" has full access to the folder in program files x86. btw i'd do this for the whole buzz directory and inherit into all subfolders.

Hey Unz, thanks for the hint, that did it.

I forgot, how restrictive windows behaves with those authorisations for accessing with full rights.
It is allways a little adventure setting the whole system up again.

Relaxed now :)

Hey

a copy of the user\appdata\roaming\polac folder to an other location and change of the path in the global preferences with full admin privileges does not move the data access permanently.

After deleting the user..\polac folder everything is at default, a rescan begins and the default folders get rebuild.

There should be a settings entry of the path by default in the PVST installation folder, then the polac data folder could be moved anywhere permanently (external HD), because the installation folder is in any case the same. ;)

Thanx

hi,

according to that I have done a kind of "portable" buzz installation on my external harddrive.
Not too comfortable but it works with some restrictons.

I installed buzz on the external HDD (used this installer viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2466)
copied machines and vst to HDD
made a shortcut for the buzz.exe into the installation folder
started buzz with shortcut, set the gear directories in PVST and PVSTi, scan for machines and vst.
closed buzz
copied the polac folder in: user\appdata\roaming to the external buzz installation folder.
unpluged HDD and forced uninstallation of the buzz installation in windows (used geek uninstaller)
deleted user\appdata\roaming\polac and ~\jeskola and documents\buzz
(or plug external HDD to another PC)
started buzz with the shortcut
entered load directory in PVSTi (e.g. E:\Buzz portable neu\Polac\Vst Loader\1.1.10)

When you have installed new instruments you have to repeat the the scan and ff
VSTs with an system installer do not work.

A bit uncomfortable but if you need ...
