I just found one (slightly wrong) way of doing it: Press F3 for machine view, then right-click your machine and select Copy.
This will copy the entire machine including patterns. Sadly the pattern data part is scrambled.
You can then paste this into Notepad++ and save it as blabla.xml for later.
Some other day you can load the file into Notepad++ and copy it, and paste this into any bmx.

I don't know if there are other tricks. Maybe MIDI?

If we could do this for pattern data only, might be great for saving templates, in emacs, in yankpad.

If you have Microsoft Office you can give this a try:

Text Screen Capture with OneNote

Never tried it myself, but it might be what you're looking for, Bozz.

I have seen there is a .csv export and import, this I could try out.

Why not make a template of the machine with pattern data.
You can drag that into your project later when you need it and simply copy and paste the pattern data.

I was going to suggest templates as well. I use them a TON.

also, the pattern XP mod has the ability to export/import pattern data as .csv files, which is super awesome and almost exactly what you're askin for (as you've seen, i think).

speaking of which, sorta unrelated - for devs - in 2014 i made this thing that converts mtrk sequences (or anything monophonic exported via pattern xp mod) to micro/minibrute sequence files (midi note values in the format it uses). it's console output only btw, so update the filepath yourself and use the console in visual studio. it's how port my basslines over to my brutes for improv. feel free to reuse.

mute: Double wow.
I'm gonna check out the mod then.

And yes, I do have a MiniBrute! (File saved!)
Thanks.

Yes, Pattern XP mod : "export pattern" is made for that. An editable export (csv can be loaded in a spreadsheet).
