Hi,
finally my old headphone is broken after many years.
So I have to buy a new one. A better one !
I need it for mixing and composing at my PC.
A often found "sweet spot" recommendation: Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro ?
But, a good headphone means you need a goode A/D device, too, which is not delivered by my PC (simple realtek chip onboard).
Do I need an audio interface then, or an extra headphone-amplifyer?
Which audiointerface has good sound (simple one for beginners)?
thanx for any recommendation! (headphone + USB-soundcard/interface)

Re: New headphone + audiointerface ?
I'm using a Behringer UMC404HD Interface. I love it. Simple to use, easy to setup & install the drivers & it sounds great (IMHO). I also use a pair of $50 Sony Headphones that aren't the best (professionally speaking), but they have a good range.

I have a DT770 Pro 250 Ohm here, quite nice i have to say. I also only have realtek onboard sound, however have a hardware mixer attached to it, working fine this way.

Re: New headphone + audiointerface ?
Thanx for reply.
I was thinking about the dt770, too. But i looked for lower impedance.
Now I give the AKG K702 a try. 62 Ohm.
After long search about DAC, headphone amps and audiointerfaces I foĺlow a recommendation of a music shop and try the Steinberg UR12. Hope I dont get sound gaps with my pc, a bug some get with this interface. Well it offers all I want for now.

Re: New headphone + audiointerface ?
I have a Yamaha AG03 it's the equivalent to the UR22 and fortunately i can use it also a standalone mixer because i've fallen in love with an Audient ID4 (Frank you should try it specially on your headphones ). The Audient has a perfectly working DI input for Guitar,great mic preamp and the sound is marvelous.
As for headphones,nowadays i prefer to mix on more bassy headphones because i tend to listen on lower volumes with them.The DT770 has more (pronounced) bass than the 702.

@domtron
Yes, same to me. Bass is the problem in headphones-mixing. I will see... perhaps I change after trying

Re: New headphone + audiointerface ?
For headphones, I am a big fan of the Superlux 681 and 668.They are really cheap made in China but are actually great headphones with a clear sound and no bass boost nonsense. The 681 especially get great reviews and are often compared to some of the mid-range Sennheiser, but much cheaper.
If you have any outboard gear like analog synths, I recommend looking into getting a DC-coupled USB audio interface like a MOTU ultralite or something like that, because control voltages can be sent from your PC instead of having to use MIDI.

@nikmis
thanx for heads up! I did not know about the Superlux HD681, gets very good feedback - for 20 Euros!!! I have to come back to it.
As a backup or for convenience at other devices than my PC I was thinking about the Samson SR850. It gets similar price/value ratios.
But, for me, the wearing-comfort is one of the most important points. What do you think?
(and don't use outboars gear, but thanx)

Re: New headphone + audiointerface ?
ok, to close this one:
I bought the AKG 702 with changeable cable and the "little" Steinberg UR12 audio interface.
Very important: the headphone is very comfortable.
And now I can hear the bass for mixing!. Sound is great. I keep it!
Thanx for your support.
