Hey guys, I could use some recommendations for some native buzz effects for ambient sound. I'm going to be doing some atmospheric stuff using long clips of found sound.

I was thinking about a pitch shifter, a phaser/flanger, a delay/reverb, and a filter.

As to any recommendations, The wilder the better! It doesn't have to yield the most musical results.

What would you recommend?

The one that springs to mind for me is Geoffroy Notefilter. This one is really fantastic for adding harmonic coloring to just about any sound (though it works best with non-tonal or slightly noisy input). Crank up the resonance and play notes or chords in the effect to transform the incoming sound into beautiful tones. For evolving soundscapes, automate the harmonics, either manually or with long PeerLFOs.

For wilder stuff, I'd recommend playing around with feedback loops using ld auxsend and ld auxreturn. Put a limiter in the feedback path before you do anything, but after that, filters, pitchshifters, reverbs, delays or whatever else can all produce interesting and unexpected effects.

Wow, great suggestions! I can't wait to try them out. Thanks very much for sharing your insights.

While I was trying to figure out what to do today I stumbled on this zip of all the fuzzpilz effects:

Pretty great starting point. There's a lot of stuff in there that isn't on robot planet. Plus the file names are all in german for added cool factor. One effect is very interesting and reminds me of what you are describing. It seems to turn any incoming sound into a ... bell? of some sort. It has all kinds of parameters relating to the mass of the bell, and well, fuzzpilz is a genie-ous so...

I'm also going to drop this archive I made of the buzz forums for no reason at all except that I had to go into my mega account to get that link, and might as well share both. This is a complete backup of the buzz forums circa march 2018 if you or anyone else wants one for your records. It's 160mb. It might come in handy if world war 3 hits and you want to play buzz music for the destitute people in your survival camp. 8-)
