Problems with MIDI channels

Post by Bah »

I have some problems using MIDI with my Oxygen 25 keyboard, that has 16 channels.

Changing MIDI input channel on any machine (VST or generator) only affects the keyboard, not the knobs, and it
still takes input from channel 1.

For example: I create a new CafeBass II, assign a parameter to a knob, change MIDI in channel to 4, and indeed it takes notes from
the 4th channel of my keyboard, but when i turn the knob in question it doesn't change the parameter value. However, if I change the channel on the keyboard to 1, turning the knob changes the value, and the notes play, even though the generator itself has been assign to take input
from channel 4.

Being quite new to MIDI (and not having used Buzz for a while) I probably am doing something wrong, could someone please help?

Instead of using the knobs through buzz's MIDI input settings, and right-click assigning them to sliders; use BTDSys PeerCTRL to assign them.

This has other advantages over using Buzz's built in system too.

How do I get peerctrl to recognize other channels than channel 1?
When I'm configuring controllers in "MIDI CC settings" it only recognizes
knobs and sliders if I use channel 1.

Ah yes, I think it works, when I change the MIDI in channel of the peerctrl.

One more question, thou:
How do I assign different controllers to different parameters?
For example, knob1 on cutoff and knob2 on resonance?

Add a track to peerctrl for each midi/knob relationship in the pattern editor, as you add tracks you get more controls in peerctrl, and you can set them up independently.

ah, yes. The pattern editor.
I thought it had something to do with tracks, but for some reason didn't think
of the pattern editor...

Thanks.
