Help recording noodlings?

Post by toothsoup »

Hey all, this may be a really stupid question, but I can't seem to figure out the technical aspects of it so I'm turning to the one place I know will have people that can show me the way. :)

The setup is this: say you have buzz open with your favourite generator or vst or whatever open. And say your keyboard is attached and you are noodling around trying to find a melody or something exciting to start forming a song. How can one record those noodlings?

So basically, the question is how can you record the output from buzz without having to do something ridiculous like (my initial solution) make a 10 minute pattern of that machine and hit the record button so you can catch all the note edits?

That works? Holy crap do I feel  stupid. Didn't even consider that, was going down the external audio capture route. Mega embarrassed right now.
