BuzzWiki Updates and Thanks [moderated]

BuzzWiki Updates and Thanks:

Buzz is currently in development, with new features and technologies being added almost every month. As BuzzWiki is the best source of documentation on the use of buzz, it needs to keep updated to let everyone know how to use it. This is documentation writing is one of my least favourite parts of the communal action, so I'm going to make this the place to keep everyone updated on the good work other people are doing in keeping it going!

This thread is for wiki updates and thanks to contributers only, and will be moderated with no mercy. If you are not saying "this has been done" or "thank you" your post will be moved, editted, or deleted without warning or choice. If you want to talk about general issues regarding the wiki, buzz, other programs, or your cat, you should do it elsewhere. You have been warned.

To get us started, here's a page on the features currently available in Buzz thats been written for us by Shroom and Joachip. Thanks for the work today, now I have a place to send people who dont know buzz or haven't used it years with all the features. No one will have to deal with my incoherent ramblings of whats possible now in (#)Buzz again! :P

Other recent updates include Joachip explaining how the plugin database that allows Buzz to search for missing machines on the web works; giving some history of the tubescreamer distortion drive mode; and making available an important piece of information for dealing with registery problems that occur with certain soundcard drivers and PVST. Thanks for keeping it going, escpecially given the problems with bc. 8-)

Joachims Mars Filter 2 documentation, going through the different distortion modes, what math they use, and how they effect the sound. Good to know which modes are better for basses! :geek:

After it came up in another thread, Joachip has updated the wiki with a simple explination of how to add the additional dll's needed for old machines. He's also hosting an archive of all the files that you may need, which should make it easy for people coming back to buzz to get up to speed quickly!

This has been an on going issue for a few years on BC, so I think we all realise how useful this is going to be! Thanks joa!

Cool, thanks!! I have to find some time to participate to the wiki too.
Maybe joachim would be interested to host some rare buzz machines I have (bellerophon, cheese, moose, waffletree, capscicum, serpent, faltbinder, moogoo, slocoder, etc. There is about 35 machines).

Elekt has updated the machine presets section of the wiki, adding how to use the new preset randomisation feature, and fixing the file extentions and file handling of presets information for xml and the new builds. Thanks!

Commadore65 thought I wouldn't notice that he updated the Pattern XP page over the holidays, he was wrong! Cleaned up and clear, well done!

Ags has kindly taken a break from messing with gravity and added the current multithreading blacklist to the wiki's page on Gear.xml!

Thank you guys for the good work on BuzzWiki.

Would an external link to http://vimeo.com/1675783 be a good complementary info for this buzz VST loader page?

I've been rubbish updating this thread recently, but there has been a lot of work on the wiki in the meantime!

http://buzzwiki.robotplanet.dk/index.ph ... sic_Theory
Although this page is still in progress, Xaphiod, Ags and Mute have written a long introduction to music theory based on the tracker interface which covers chords, scales, keys, and modes. If you got into music without getting theory classes, I really recommend you have a read of this, not neccesarily to use the theory, but to give you all sorts of ideas for composing! Thank you to Xaphoid for starting this off and putting so much effort into it, Ags and Mute for there contributions, and to the various other buzzers who have been putting in your 2c on how to explain this complicated subject.

Xaphoid also has put up a link to the much missed Arguru.

Joachip has added a small clarification to this, but it's a very informative post worth taking a second look at.

Huge thank you to elekt for making the http://buzzwiki.robotplanet.dk/index.ph ... Developers page, with a list of developers of buzz machines and their websites where you can support them. Please do get in touch if you have another website or donation system you would like put there. (now i need to get off my ass and make a webpage and more machines!)

I've been poor keeping this updated, so feel free to say what I've missed.

Very welcome. Thanks to Joachip for hosting the machine db, accommodating the query links from this list, and all around being Joachip.
