Sequence Accumulator

Post by synthphase »

Does Tinga or anyone know if there is a command for Peer Accumulator that really accumulates? AFAIK it only lets you go between two values, re-triggers one value or goes to a random value.

IF that's possible THEN I want to somehow build a sequence looper out of peer stuff that I can step through with a peertrigger or a midi note. Basically I want to steal this idea: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4FiDHP0oQSI But only use Buzz machines if I can. I did a mock up with Accumulator, Peer LFO and 8n, but it was limited to number of notes 8n has and requires more trickery then seems logical.

.... Hmmmmm... A way to bind the "8" key in patternXP to a midi note would also work...

You mean increment/decrement the trigger value on each trigger? It can't do that at the moment but I could add some new commands. Can't believe I didn't think of that in the first place actually.

I think an accumulator in multi track could do the job, fix the note you want on each track, the trigger is by track, so with another accumulator and a lfo , you do a rotation with the tracks, a peer state to have different patterns (state of notes), peer trig and you have what you see on the video, but i've not try this sort of template,so i don't know if it works :? , peerscale+peertrig is fun, with a cheap mic you have your trigger, and with a slider you control notes.

Done!

New commands 18, 19, 1A and 1B for incrementing Val A and Val B on successful trigger. See the help file for full details.

I think you'll like these tinga :)

IX Peer Accumulator x86

IX Peer Accumulator x64 (experimental, unsupported)

I remember now that I did think of doing this ages ago but I couldn't think of a good way to implement it at the time. If no bugs show up I'll put it on buzzmachines.

@synthphase: If you manage to get that up and running I'd love to see/hear it. I'm headed there myself but the road is long and I don't have time or space to pursue it properly at the moment. :(

maybe you think there's not enough accumulators in my bmx
:D :ugeek: I've not all understood, but it appears clearly that the new commands increase seriously the potent of this (genial) machine, a sort of relativion for all (targeted) params, impressive 8-)

I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with it once you do understand. I think these commands could open up some interesting new areas for exploration.

Yay! Thanks! This will probably work to cut out a lot of fat from the stack.

I'm thinking now it can just be midi note C2 -> .accum -> peerstate -> peertune -> some machine that only responds to notes greater then C2 with a global transpose slider. That way the Base drum can increment the sequence and the rest of the drum pads can play it.

Okay, so I started building it, but I think I'm going to run into problems with the wrap mode. Dunno if I'm missing something but it wraps to the entire parameter length right? That means that unless I think of another way of doing stuff, my peerstate needs to have 127 presets! I tried a PeerCtrl in the middle, but then I miss some triggers or end up jumping to every nth preset.

Now I almost need something like a peer lookup table, where 1 = a, 2 = b, 3 = c, 4 = d, etc.

Got any ideas for how to proceed? Tinga?

I'm not sure, but it's just what i'm working on, i will play with a (great) afro venezuelian percussionist and i've put some micros on his congas, peer trig and now i'm searching funny things.

About the new command, i'm not able to automate it, i don't know if it's me or a bug, but what i see in status's window is strange, it's very often like that when i try a new thing, at first it doesn't work because i' ve miss something, or because i never smoke anything without a minimum 20% thc

Could be a bug. I didn't do much testing. What's happening?

Any chance of putting these on Buzzmachines? Dropbox links are 404.

Ah yeah, dropbox killed the public folder for some reason so all the links died.

The machines site won't let me log in atm so here are the new links...

Thank you! Can't wait to play around with the "accumulating" mode

Magic is perfect to drive Accumulator, so many commands (27!), and I've just used 9 or 10  , with magic, it's easier and more clear, it's time for me to go deeper in this awesome machine, I'm happy to play again with Accumulator and experiment new things.

That just gives us more things to play with (as I'm sure Tinga will agree) :D

Accumulator+Magic is a very powerful thing. I tested yesterday Stochas, a good sequencer, but in fact clearly several levels under Magic or ScaleWalker.
Magic_Acc.7z
(8.2 KiB) Downloaded 189 times
. 5 pages (turn it manually) with different process of sequencing, Accumulator control the notes, Magic orchestrate the command argument system, Accumulator enter now in a new dimension.

Yes I downloaded it yesterday, useful update, and what is cool after disease is that you fill better than normal.
A mix between Accumulator and Magic to send notes will be very interesting.
