What about a new Contest ?

Someone talk about a samples only contest. Sounds good to me 8-)
Samples only + buzz native fx ?
Auto sample (creating samples inside buzz with buzz machines) ?

I'm waiting for your suggestions

How about a restricted pallet . http://www.audiobulb.com/ these guys have a project called root of sine , all tracks are made with a one second 440 Hz sine wave sample.

Why not 8-)
Can we use fx ?

Buzz has unlimited audio mangling abilities. I say apply effects liberally, you can never have too many.

Thanx guyz 8-)
We want more buzzers. And to fix rules.
Maybe we can intensify the sine wave idea ?
It's up to you!

the idea of only using a sine wave as source tickles the surrealist game player in me .

As far as "intensify" is concerned my fundamental ideas are:
• the duration limited to 4 minutes like 4 phases of sine period
• start and end pure sample
• besides all sine aberrations permitted
People, sine needs you!

I like the start and end with the sine sample. Four minutes is good too.

Any sound wave can be created from a sine wave. That is a very cool contest!!!

Completely insine. :-)

I like sine.
what generator could be used?
Qsamo is also a sampler, but it will be very easy to make what we want with it.
Maybe just one sampler could be allowed, matilde 3?

I think Matilde only as a restriction is a good idea. I tried using qsamo the other day and thought it too powerful/versatile.

What about a 2-4 minutes of pure 440 hz sine as generated sound (just one 440 hz tone),
and every effects allowed except cng-recorder and no other generators...
(so pitchshifters and gappers and fx and stuff will do the real thing)

... to raise the difficulty level..

.. oops, I shoot in my own foot... (bye bye premature, heavily affected sine drums and chords)

Ok seems to turn on good

What mcg said seems a good rule :)

So to resume : samples only, Mtrk + all possible Fx.

As I was speaking of intensify, I upload here a little freeware tone generator (sine, square, triangle, white noise...) to create sine wav sample.

Do we keep the sine only idea or can we use also the different tone we can export with this little soft ?

Also I'd like to use a sine that the freq is a C note (262 or 523 Hz by example).

PS : I found the freeware here >>> http://heliso.tripod.com/

For me one second 440 Hz sine strictness is very inspirational - less means more challenge.
http://heliso.tripod.com/download/generator/dsg.htm - good one source for many interpretations.
Probably it will be the January contest, as far as time limit goes.

To have as many participants as possible, wouldn't it be nice to have everybody
have their experiments uploaded in a zip named sine-experiments+name.

And besides that have the real sine contest with votes for the most restricltive
because of creativeness, while still less restrictive ones can be voted for.

... like this ??? :
-sine experiments

... contest :
-sine strictly 440hz
-sine samples only

As this thread keeps alive it wouldn't be bad to postpone the timelimit a little more I guess.
(I seem to have a habit to postpone a little too much, I must say though.)
.. I myself don't get much done yet though.

Pardon my inexperience.
I never use samplers (and almost never compose music either...) so I have to ask you, what do you do with the sampler if there can only be a sinewave as a soundsource? What am I not understanding?
