Drag n Drop MT PowerDrum Kit 2

Post by HerrFornit »

I like very much the VSTi MT Power Drum Kit 2. It also offers a lot of grooves, which you can drag and drop into your DAW.
Unfortunately drag n drop doesn't work with BUZZ (1504). A workaorund is to reimport MIDI data of e.g. Abelton live.

Does anybody know a way to do this directly in BUZZ ;)

If the drag & drop data is MIDI, you can't drop it into Buzz because Buzz doesn't load MIDI data natively. There used to be a tool (in the old Massive Pack) called MIDI to Buzz that converted MIDI data to values usable in the Parameter view. I'm not sure if M2Buzz still works with NuBuzz or if it's an OldBuzz only tool. But you could give it a try. Here's a link to a forum post about the old tools & the Massive Pack:

Hi Candle,

thanx a lot for reply. Got the recommended tool from here :
http://www.maz-sound.com/trackers.html

it works somehow to converte MIDI files. To build a fi MIDI file you still have to use Abelton or so on.

Probably not but: Isnt there a way to use a machine, to convert it within BUZZ ?

Glad you found the tool.

You might try Kazuya's MIDI 2 Peer C2. I've never used it, but it might help you with what you are trying to do.

I can not connect the MIDI2peer to master or pattern xp editor, so GUI-notes without sound for now.

But I can save it to a file and import it via pianoroll editor and then pattern xp!

That's awesome! Glad it worked out for you.

Again, I've never used the machine, but as a Peer Controller, can you not set it to send its note data to a generator?

Yes, it supposed to be so.

I dint find a way yet. Perhaps compatibility issue with new BUZZ 1503. The machine is from 2007.

I can not connect and I can not assign devices.

Hmm… that's too bad. Maybe it is a NuBuzz compatability thing. Glad you have a work-around tho…

No issues with latest Buzz!!
Peer machines will not connect to anything. You assign the target machine with a right mouse click on the peer machine that will open an assignment window.
With MIDI2peer C2 the assigned target machine must accept midi notes as input, so your plan to use the midi files from MT Power Drum Kit with other machines won't work with most of Buzz's drum generators.

@theOke

ok. thanx. Now I found out that you have to mark the MIDI Parameter in assignment menue. That means I can assign the machine to MIDID2peerC2.
But still no sound or Pattern notes.

Hm, a quick little test.

Insert MT Power Drum Kit VST, Midi2Peer and Qsamo into a new buzz file.
Drag the midi file from MT Power Drum to Midi2Peer.
Open the assignment window, use Qsamo as the target machine and choose note and velocity par.
drumqsamo.jpg
drumqsamo.jpg (29.26 KiB) Viewed 14070 times
Now press play in Buzz and you should hear Qsamo playing the midi file from Midi2Peer.
(No drum sounds but the chosen preset sound from Qsamo).

If that test fails i have no further idea what might be wrong here.

Ah, cool. Didn't know the MT Power Drum Kit supports Midi-Out. So you don't need Midi2Peer at all.
You can simply choose the Midi-Send-Target in the Polac VSTi loader (The Midi Out Port there sends to external programs!)
What instrument are you using as the Midi-Send-Target? If you can't hear all instruments and at wrong speed the target instrument probably has different mappings ....

Hm... now i think i understand what you want to do. :ugeek:

You don't want to use the midi files from MT-PowerDrumKit with another plugin,
you just want to use MT-PowerDrumKit and arrange/compose the built-in midi files !!

There is a composer line in MT-PowerDrumKit. Arrange the midi files there and than drag the whole
composition into Midi2Peer ....

Here is an example bmx ... unfortunately MT-PowerDrumKit does not save the composer line,
but Midi2Peer saves the arrangement.

Another (and better) way to do this is to record the output of MT-PowerDrumKit to IX Split!
Then you can edit the result in the pattern editor afterwards and synchronisation is better.

1) Add MT-PowerDrumKit and IX Split to a new Buzz File.
2) Double-Click on IX-Split machine opens the GUI. Right-Click on the GUI and create a new layer.
Make a long empty pattern for IX split in the pattern editor and add that to your sequence editor.
3) Open MT-PowerDrumKit, arrange your midi files on the composer line.
Turn on it's Midi-Out and set Split as target in Midi Send from polac adapter.
4) Now press the Buzz record button and immediately after that start to play the composition from
MT-PowerDrumKit GUI. Record until it's finished.
5) Finally fix the start in the recorded IX Split pattern and address the layer to MT-PowerDrumKit.

Sounds more complicated than it really is.

Hi theOak!

being at work this day, I was thinking about to tell you that I was used to be a tracker. Well, now you found out by yourself, somehow ;)

Now I got what I wanted.

How did you found out that solution with IX Split? I wouln't have found that out.

However, thanx so much, you are an expert!
