Feature Request: Split-able pattern view.

Post by mridlen »

It would be really cool if I could split the pattern view down the middle and load up two separate patterns to compare timings (smaller patterns could visually loop to match a larger pattern). Currently you have to do it by ear or by math.

Attaching example picture of proposed functionality (I put "Machine" instead of "Pattern"... sorry)

The downside is that patterns lose their modularity when you do that.

So you are saying that if I compose all my patterns in one giant pattern, I can still activate them individually? Can you give me a quick example of how to do this? I'm guessing this has to do with the SubPattern Track Trigger, but all it seems to do is mute the track.

Yeah, you can make a new pattern (lets say pattern 01) (in adition to you "normal patterns that contain multiple machines", say pattern 00) and use SubPattern Track Trigger to start playing track x in machine y (add more tracks to 01 for triggering track x in 00). This is like a "peer-pattern", or more like a mini-sequencer for patterns. You then trigger this mini-sequencer-pattern (01) in the real sequencer. Its a bit cumbersome i agree, but it works.

Ok, so I set up 2 patterns. Pattern 00 and pattern 01. Pattern 00 has Bass 3 and Infector.

Pattern 01 just has a trigger for 00 on Bass 3, which works, but it plays both Bass 3 and Infector.
