Re: Sooooo, is buzz dead again ?
Buzz is still rokin' after all these years. Obviously, development and community activity have both slowed down a lot, but it's far more powerful now than it was back in the heyday when there were a dozen .bmx songs a day being uploaded to scene.de or wherever. A lot of the momentum in the early day...
Re: VCV Rack
I'd love to try it, but it seems to just be showing a black screen when I open it. According to the docs, this is some kind of OpenGL problem, which is strange because I had an older, pre-bridge version of VCV running on my old laptop with a far less powerful graphics card. I do love me some modular...

Re: If you had to cheat on Buzz...
If I had to cheat on Buzz, it would probably be with NerdSeq . https://www.amazona.de/wp-content/uploads/2030/01/xor-electronics-nerdseq1-e1519301394192.jpg Then I'd just have to stumble upon a few thousand dollars to spend on a Eurorack system, and I'd have a fully functional modular tracker once a...

Re: Assigning start/stop controls to MIDI?
You might be able to get what you're looking for by sending notes to LiveJumpHack. I haven't had occasion to use that machine in years, but it could do loops, and you could get a sort of fake "stop" by sending it to an empty loop with nothing but note-offs. I still mourn the parameter wind...

Re: BTDsys stutter; noise and feedback (can you help?)
It's probably a 24-bit sample. Stutter doesn't seem to do well with those. If that's the case, you can try converting it to 16 bits and see if that fixes the problem.

Re: Best way to add groove/swing to your tracks?
To be clear, the PVST shuffle doesn't affect the Buzz global tempo at all; it's only "global" in the sense that it affects all tracks in that particular instance of PVST. So it shouldn't cause any tempo-dependent machines to glitch out. Jeskola Groove 1, which shuffles the Buzz global temp...

Re: Best way to add groove/swing to your tracks?
Polac VST has a shuffle command, and it comes with an Internal MIDI instrument for sending MIDI to other machines. For machines that can't receive MIDI data, you can route the MIDI to Ix Split, and have that control whatever you like. The PVST shuffle is one of the global delay commands, 08 1xyy, wh...

Re: missing machines on old BMX's
It could be that the original was a stereo-wrapped version of the same machine. I had a similar problem with some of my old BMXs and was able to fix it by running Lee Dragon's Mono to Stereo Wrapper on the machines I needed. If you don't want to convert your entire Effects directory, you can just co...

I have bmx/bmw files for most of mine, though I'm not sure about all the old machines. I'll put up what I've got later.

Re: Buzz at 20
I put my contribution up here . I included a bunch of unfinished snippets as well as a few songs that either were never released or were part of projects that are no longer up on the internet. I guess I should put the finished songs on BuzzTunes too at some point. It was fun to dig through the archi...

PeerEnv controlling Master BPM seems to work fine for me. Does the attached example work for you?

Re: Sound card reset?
I just ran into this problem recently, and found the answer here:

Basically, you have to copy the ASIO driver registry entry from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\asio into the Polac ASIO entry under the Buzz registry.

I don't have any solutions to your problem in particular, but when a word is excluded from the forum search for being too common, you can just use your search engine of choice to search the site, e.g.: https://www.google.com/search?q=site%3Aforums.jeskola.net+sequencer https://duckduckgo.com/?q=site...

Re: A working wavetable recorder?
There are at least two different issues here. One of them is particular to Whitenoise Recorder, and another, which primarily affects the Cyanphase and CnG recorders, seems to have something to do with the Buzz wavetable GUI. I use Whitenoise Recorder often for wavetable feedback (simultaneously reco...

Binomial Smoothing
One pretty simple effect I've always wanted is a binomial smoothing filter, as described here . For the first pass (smoothing parameter = 1), you just average the last two samples of the input. For the second pass, you average the last two samples of the first pass, and so on: Out(1,t) = (In(t) + In...

There is also an introductory DSP class on Coursera right now, if you're looking for a structured format to learn the basics. It uses Python, but the principles are the same no matter what language you're using.

Re: Using Buzz to control a modular synth
Way back when , Nikmis apparently got buzz to work with the Silent Way VSTs, which is probably the way to go. I don't know of any machines that would produce the signals you'd need natively in Buzz, but I'm sure there's some hack you could do, maybe using peer machines to control a Cheapo DC or the...
