Keyboard "jamming" doesn't work with Buzz machines?

Post by Jay200MPH »

Hey all, this is a pretty basic question but I haven't found it answered here yet...

When I'm in the machine view I can open a VSTi and play it with the (computer) keyboard no problem. Very useful for just experimenting or hashing out phrases before I commit them to patterns...

But when I try it with a native machine, it won't do that? I have to go to the pattern editor & add notes to be able to play anything. No amount of changing the window focus will get the machine to read the kb for direct input.

I'm guessing I've missed something in the settings that will allow me to do this? What do I need to change?

Thanks,
- Jay

most native machines dont support this

however, if they support midi, you can use the virtual midi keyboard

(btw i thought it would be cool to have an option to send buzz-notes instead of midi-notes from the virtual midi keyboard)

... and if a machine does not support midi, use it with IX Split.

Cool, got it to work both ways. Not quite as simple an approach as I'd hoped but close enough. (Now I can use my D-50 to input notes too!)
Never tried IX Split before... neat machine!

Thanks guys.
