Windows XP?

Post by Some-E »

I'm using Windows XP, all the latest updates etc. of course. I wanted to upgrade my "new" buzz from 2010. Then I found the reason why I haven't upgraded already: Jeskola.net/buzz says:

"Windows 7/Vista/2K8 is required."

However, I could not find information related to this from the 200 most recent User forum posts, or the buzz changelog, or Buzzwiki. After that lookup work I decided to register here and just ask about it.

Anyone using the latest buzz build in Windows XP? If not the latest, then which one is the latest known build to work in XP? I should get back to producing with the version I have, because the track still works...

Thanks.

afaik latest still works on XP, but there's no support for it / guarantee that future updates won't break XP.... several people here are running it on xp tough i think

it would help if you said what the problem is.

Still using the latest beta [1466] on XP SP3 here. Works like a charm.
I'm in dire need to update my setup though, but why fix something that isn't broken (yet)? Who knows, this computer might become a stripped down and "dedicated Buzz computer" in the future.

Yep ran Buzz on XP right up till 1453 which was long into the 'needs w7/vista' cycle, but yeah future versions may stop working on the old OS and that'll be the primary reason why.

Hi, does anyone know if it's possible or a good idea to run the new and the old buzz at the same system, let's say XP? Any experiences here? :)

Installed at the same time but not running both at the same time. I don't know if they're using same areas in the registry for stuff and thereby have some conflicts with each other or something like that. Would be nice to have both to slowly switch from old to new using the same sample and vst pool.

I am using old and new Buzz (bld 1469) on Windows XP - running both from the same directory...

but because overloader does not work with new Buzz and some machine versions were created especially for new Buzz,
i am using two BAT files, which run the wanted Buzz version, the appropriate index, en- or disable the overloader files and
switch between different machine versions.

For old Buzz this one
copy "D:\Audio\Studios\Buzz\Buzz00.exe" "D:\Audio\Studios\Buzz\Buzz.exe"
rename "D:\Audio\Studios\Buzz\Gear\WaveEditors\KeybRoll.dxx" "KeybRoll.dll"
rename "D:\Audio\Studios\Buzz\Gear\HD ScreamWaver.dxx" "HD ScreamWaver.dll"
rename "D:\Audio\Studios\Buzz\Gear\CyanPhase Buzz Overloader.dxx" "CyanPhase Buzz Overloader.dll"
copy "D:\Audio\Studios\Buzz\Gear\index.00" "D:\Audio\Studios\Buzz\Gear\index.txt"
copy "D:\Audio\Studios\Buzz\Gear\Generators\BTDSys LiveJumpHACK 00.dll" "D:\Audio\Studios\Buzz\Gear\Generators\BTDSys LiveJumpHACK.dll"
copy "D:\Audio\Studios\Buzz\Gear\Generators\BTDSys Peer LFO 00.dll" "D:\Audio\Studios\Buzz\Gear\Generators\BTDSys Peer LFO.dll"
copy "D:\Audio\Studios\Buzz\Gear\Generators\BTDSys PeerChord 00.dll" "D:\Audio\Studios\Buzz\Gear\Generators\BTDSys PeerChord.dll"
copy "D:\Audio\Studios\Buzz\Gear\Generators\BTDSys PeerCtrl 00.dll" "D:\Audio\Studios\Buzz\Gear\Generators\BTDSys PeerCtrl.dll"
copy "D:\Audio\Studios\Buzz\Gear\Generators\BTDSys PeerState 00.dll" "D:\Audio\Studios\Buzz\Gear\Generators\BTDSys PeerState.dll"
copy "D:\Audio\Studios\Buzz\Gear\Generators\RewireLink_00.dll" "D:\Audio\Studios\Buzz\Gear\Generators\RewireLink.dll"

start /ABOVENORMAL buzz.exe "D:\Audio\Studios\Buzz\InitBmx.bmx"
For new Buzz this one:
copy "D:\Audio\Studios\Buzz\Buzz08.exe" "D:\Audio\Studios\Buzz\Buzz.exe"
rename "D:\Audio\Studios\Buzz\Gear\WaveEditors\KeybRoll.dll" "KeybRoll.dxx"
rename "D:\Audio\Studios\Buzz\Gear\HD ScreamWaver.dll" "HD ScreamWaver.dxx"
rename "D:\Audio\Studios\Buzz\Gear\CyanPhase Buzz Overloader.dll" "CyanPhase Buzz Overloader.dxx"
copy "D:\Audio\Studios\Buzz\Gear\index.08" "D:\Audio\Studios\Buzz\Gear\index.txt"
copy "D:\Audio\Studios\Buzz\Gear\Generators\BTDSys LiveJumpHACK 08.dll" "D:\Audio\Studios\Buzz\Gear\Generators\BTDSys LiveJumpHACK.dll"
copy "D:\Audio\Studios\Buzz\Gear\Generators\BTDSys Peer LFO 08.dll" "D:\Audio\Studios\Buzz\Gear\Generators\BTDSys Peer LFO.dll"
copy "D:\Audio\Studios\Buzz\Gear\Generators\BTDSys PeerChord 08.dll" "D:\Audio\Studios\Buzz\Gear\Generators\BTDSys PeerChord.dll"
copy "D:\Audio\Studios\Buzz\Gear\Generators\BTDSys PeerCtrl 08.dll" "D:\Audio\Studios\Buzz\Gear\Generators\BTDSys PeerCtrl.dll"
copy "D:\Audio\Studios\Buzz\Gear\Generators\BTDSys PeerState 08.dll" "D:\Audio\Studios\Buzz\Gear\Generators\BTDSys PeerState.dll"
copy "D:\Audio\Studios\Buzz\Gear\Generators\RewireLink_08.dll" "D:\Audio\Studios\Buzz\Gear\Generators\RewireLink.dll"

start /ABOVENORMAL buzz.exe
Hope that makes sense. 8-)
