Transitional sounds

What are some good synths for making transitional sounds (i.e. the "whoosh" sound you often hear in dance tracks between phrases)?

Something like a simple noise generator ran through some sort of filter slowly increasing the cutoff from low to high ? Maybe bung a reverb or delay at the end of the chain.

that´s basically it. in the filter you should apply a fair amount of resonance though.

also a common trick is to take any sort of hit, and run it through a long reverb. then you can reverse that sound. it's a bit more organic than a woosh.
