buzz forums

anyone done this at all ?. Im thinking it would be cool to run Maschine as a VST inside of buzz .. a sorta souped up SGrid ..

you know thinking about this more it would be rad to have maschine in controller mode because usually when I play live I already have most everything sequenced (order of parts etc) and then jam around with peer state controlled effect chains in addition to using peer control to control retrig etc . ..

i was rather disappointed in maschine's features. I almost bought one awhile ago but decided against it.. I would suggest spending time with the software for little bit if you can. Unfortunately (and stupidly) they don't do a demo download for the software.. so if theres no store in your area that retails NI you're hosed. The controller is only as good as the software. it's really catered towards beat tapping.

If you use loops (i dont really, but on something like maschine i would for live usages) there is very little in the way of any features for it except basic slicing and hard quantization.

I have a friend at NI that can get me it for half off .. I guess If i get it and then dont like it I can always turn around and sell it ..

You need quite powerful computer to run it as plugin, my old machine was definately not up for it. With my new i7 it seems to work fine in Buzz but I now mainly use Reaper with Maschine in a traditional multitrack enviroment.

The Maschine software itseld is a kind of mixed bag. Basic jamming/pattern making is a lot fun but the actual song making capabilities are very limited. The pads are very nice, best pads i've used.

It's definately not perfect, but for the price i dont complain.. if u can get it for half price and have the specs to run it its a no brainer

I have Buzz and Maschine (MkI controller, but latest software).
I still mainly use Buzz. There are some things I like better about Maschine, though. Slicing with knobs is nicer than working with offset numbers. Playing slices on the controller is nice. Sampling straight into the program is nice. But I feel like I have better control in Buzz. The machine view in Buzz is so damn good, the sequence view is so much better than in Maschine, and Buzz loads a lot quicker and doesn't require plugging anything in. And I like being able to store samples inside song projects, as that means I'll never have a problem with missing or misplaced samples. I also weirdly prefer laying drums in Buzz, mainly because I know what effects to use and how to connect them in order to get them to sound good. Which I guess boils down to the machine view being so great.
I guess I wish Maschine had a machine view.

Anyway, anybody got any advice on setting up Maschine as a MIDI controller in Buzz? I can't seem to get the pads to do anything.
