New Menu and themes

Post by boombaxx »

Really like the new menu and theme gives buzz a very more modern look :D

The dark theme is nice but it seems to kill my CPU for some reason. Running one track just now with the dark theme, Buzz used ~70% CPU. Running the same track with the default theme uses just ~20%.

Are you sure about that? It has almost no animations and it doesn't use any CPU here.

Yes. I just made a new song with nothing but one Noise XP and Process Explorer shows Buzz using 50% CPU as soon as I hit play. The interface becomes sluggish and the meters look like they're running at 2fps. Buzz itself says it's using around 1.0.%. If I switch back to the default theme, everything is fine.

Win7 32bit, Intel Core2 Duo, 3GB Ram. I'll play around with display/engine settings to see if it makes any difference.

No, nothing. Just the normal startup stuff.

Changing various settings had no effect :(. The debug console does show the following but it does so for loading both the extended and default themes...

Code: Select all

01:06 [WPFTraceListener] Cannot find governing FrameworkElement or FrameworkContentElement for target element. BindingExpression:Path=Buzz.ThemeColors[MV Background]; DataItem=null; target element is 'SolidColorBrush' (HashCode=22640972); target property is 'Color' (type 'Color')
01:06 [WPFTraceListener] Cannot find governing FrameworkElement or FrameworkContentElement for target element. BindingExpression:Path=MachineGraph.Buzz.ThemeColors[MV Line]; DataItem=null; target element is 'SolidColorBrush' (HashCode=57122151); target property is 'Color' (type 'Color')
01:06 [WPFTraceListener] Cannot find governing FrameworkElement or FrameworkContentElement for target element. BindingExpression:Path=MachineLEDOnColor; DataItem=null; target element is 'SolidColorBrush' (HashCode=61612656); target property is 'Color' (type 'Color')
Could it be video drivers?

edit: Windows thinks the video drivers are up to date. I'll see if Intel say any different though.

edit again: Nope, all drivers all up to date.

same here.

and i have another issue with my theming :

[WPFTraceListener] Cannot find source for binding with reference 'RelativeSource FindAncestor, AncestorType='System.Windows.Controls.ItemsControl', AncestorLevel='1''. BindingExpression:Path=VerticalContentAlignment; DataItem=null; target element is 'ListBoxItem' (Name=''); target property is 'VerticalContentAlignment' (type 'VerticalAlignment')

i am unable to find the reason xaml-wise yet. it only comes up if i add a Generator (not Effect).

This is really strange. New song, no machines, any output device (even silent), press play, CPU = ~50% with the extended theme but just ~2% with the default.

What's going on :?:

Same here :?

OS: XP SP3
.NET-Version: Taken from oskaris link plus all latest updates (these includes windows .NET-Versions 2.0, 3.0 and 3.5. They get installed too, could this cause it?)
Computer: Athlon single core

Win7 32bit, .NET 4 I think (required for Buzz to work IIRC).

Win XP x86 single core

Old Buzz: grey theme just the master loaded 0% CPU usage in Buzz and 0% in system
New Buzz: default theme: just the master loaded minimum 8% up to 17% CPU usage in system, showing 0% in the internal buzz CPU-meter  playing a simple track 10% in old Buzz 70% system load with the new Buzz ... :?

Thanks for mentioning this, I didn't realize the high CPU consumption at first ...

Mine is moderately modern (though not very powerful I'll admit). The .NET version appears to be v4.0.30319.

The dark theme is really cool, but still suffering a 50 % cpu consumption by just loading buzz and doing nothing.
When using default theme 0 %

Build 1458
XP SP3
32-bit
.NET 4
Athlon single core (about 7 years old)
