machine muting info

Post by synthphase »

When does it occur? I noticed that some old Generators it will stop processing when their's either no audio or you stop processing via an effect. I tested Rout 808 / 909 and Jeskola Bass and they both mute when I turn off the clock in a custom Reaktor effect, but if I connect a delay or some effect the chain will continue to process (led light's on / CPU monitor moves) even if the sample clock is off.

How does buzz decide this behavior? Does an effect have some flags that force it to keep processing to avoid noise bursts, etc?

I remember Ldc Mutex was a thing once, doesn't work in new Buzz apparently.

Is there a way to control processing of a chain other then mute's in the sequence editor?

Machines are supposed to let Buzz know when they're not outputting any sound by returning false from the Work() function.

if you think that's confusing... try using <break> following mutes instead of an open pattern, or vice versa, on various generators and effects...

a lot of it depends on how old the machine is. results vary.
