500kb bmw contest : about upload and samples

Post by magmavander »

ABOUT UPLOAD

First of all, Shytan, the Fu-Master of BuzzTunes said :

"It will be great if you post your zipped BMWs at BuzzTunes. Please upload your files (bmw and mp3) in a regular manner with a note in song comment or a prefix in title itself "500Kb bmw contest" and I will gradually aggregate them all on a separate page "Contests". It'll be static for now, a temporary solution, but I will come up with some backend for the next event (commenting, votes etc). If it's OK with you, guys, plz feel free to use BT to store your stuff."

So the title of the zip and of all the mp3 should start with "500kb bmw contest"
By example my zip will be called : "500kb bmw contest - No ferrari allowed.zip" and the title of all mp3 will start the same, like : "500kb bmw contest - Hymalaya.mp3".

Once all is uploaded I will create a page at archives.org with all the albums and all the mp3. Maybe I will do that all myself but if there is too much mp3 and too much time to upload I will give my id and my password at archives to every buzzer of the contest, so they will upload their own album.

ABOUT SAMPLES :

I know a lot of buzzers like to use samples/loops. Samples that are not allowed are the EXTERNAL samples.

BUT
But remember, you can use CnG wave recorder and use an internal produced wav/loop in your bmw.
For those who dont know it, here is how it goes :

1 : put a generator (here an Infector), connect it to a CnG Recorder, and leave as it is (dont need to connect the CnG anywhere). add a MTrk (or any machine capable of loading a sample from the wavetable).

2 : create a pattern for the Infector.

3 : create a pattern for the CnG. Blue arrow : length in tick of the recorded wave. Red arrow : which number in the wavetable will be used to store the wave. Red circle : trigger recording.

4 : create a pattern for MTrk, red circle indicates the number of the wave recorded by CnG which will be used in MTrk.

5 : put the patterns in sequencer. Careful : the MTrk's pattern must be placed after the CnG pattern because before or at the same row the wave wont be yet recorded.

6 : the recorded loop is in the wavetable, at the place indicated in the pattern (0A) and can now be used by MTrk or any wave tracker and such.

IMPORTANT : If you use this technique, dont forget to erase the wave in the wavetable before saving the bmw. The wave will be replaced in the right place again when the bmw will be played so there is no problem about removing the wave(s) included in the wavetable.

I hope this will help the sample trigger addicts

Thanks for the very precise explanation. Though I do not use samples very often, it's allways good to know. Thanks again!
