Hip Hop in Buzz
Hip Hop in Buzz
Here's a beat I made today when sitting at college after taking a final exam, waiting for one more class before winter vacation. This was my first time really using Qsamo, even though it's been released for so many years now (the reason is I need to update my index.txt as almost all new machines are unsorted and I forget about them). I used Qsamo for the main "piano" and the second synth chords. I used samples from cajon recordings for most of the drum hits. Except samples, everything is Buzz machines. I don't use VST or VSTI because there's too many great effects and synths already in Buzz.

If you like it, you can download the MP3!
Thanks for the listen.
Edit:
Here is a compilation of sample-based Hip Hop made in Buzz using only Unwieldy Tracker for melody and Sample Grid for rhythm. I used the same effects chains for every song, so the beats have the same sound quality. It's very simple stuff and that's what I was trying to make! It was all made on a netbook in different places, like on an airplane/airport and other public places, rather than only at home. I used a stopwatch to give myself only 30 minutes to make each one, so they are all short but follow a simple method. It really helped me to learn my own personal "flow" when making Hip Hop.
I hope any listeners enjoy!

Re: Hip Hop in Buzz
Here is my latest in this style. It's a simple beat with Qsamo chords and a break-sampled drum kit (with Rout 909 hats). I used HD Percussive FM for the bass. No big changes or automation, just a beat.

Thanks a lot! I am glad you liked it! I got the acapella from Youtube and used a Youtube to MP3 converter. I'm not really sure if the original beat they were rapping on had the same BPM, I only got the info from the youtube comments. It was a first-time attempt. I hope to try more like that in the future.szaszhareen wrote:cool tune, good job syncing the vocal track

I like what you have done.
Of course I know it's more like an exercise/try to you but I found some very nice ideas.
You have some creative skills
Here is a hiphop song I wroted for a rap vocal and it's all done with buzz (except the accoustic piano which is the freeware vst mda Piano) :

Thank you for your comment! Yes, they were simple attempts but I found this is my favorite way to work now. It was all to imitate my old useless Akai MPC (Buzz does everything the same and faster).magmavander wrote:I like what you have done.

I enjoyed your track. Very good production values and automating. Your skills are great! Very jazzy and all elements fit together nicely and I liked the way the effects kept everything moving. I downloaded for future listening, too.

It's been a long time since I made a new track. I was busy today and needed a break for my mind. I decided to open Soundforge and lift some new Jazz samples. After that, Buzz was opened and I made this. I was accidental Pete Rock imitation. Once the main melody was made, it was so quick to fill out the beat just hitting "enter/return" and copying new patterns. Maybe 15 minutes? I had fun, and now I can go back to my boring work.

More food loops last night. I ate two donuts and some lasagna. I used to think tea inspired making tracks but now I realize it is food, so I have to eat a lot during the process or else I can't finish anything. 12 TPB to give the hats a little swing. 6 TPB on the kicks and melody.

It took me a while to get around to this. Dude, these are great. I watched these and Mer Än En Bild. They're all made in Buzz? I really like the beats, and your English lyrics are really tight and have a good flow and actually go somewhere. Good job!!!Mozart von Robot wrote:Cool! "Made quickly and dirty. Kind of an SP-404 knock-off beat made in Buzz Tracker."

1 Utrk, 2 Samplegrid, a bunch of filters, and a Peer CTRL Basic doing the filter. The whole track run through a Stereo-SH for lo-fi and Saturn to be double lo-fi.
I didn't post for a long time because of Oskari's supposed SoundCloud ban. Everything I posted in this thread is SoundCloud anyway.
