new build, buzz broken?

I started up buzz today and installed the latest build via the updater. when I open a song and hit play, the "elapsed" counter starts running, but the song does not play. the yellow line on the sequencer does not advance. I tried uninstalling this version and installing build 1480 (32bit), and the same thing happens. I'm running win7 x64 home edition.
Help! I'm dying without buzz.

switched the output driver to wasapi and everything works.
the cold fear that enveloped me was indescribable!

I don't think my brain will ever read 'wasapi' as anything other than 'wasabi'
