Hello!
I've been absent again for a very long time and buzzchurch has gone down.
I wonder: Is there an index for machines that is newer than 2010 and where can I find it?

I would like to know as well. There are so many machines I have no idea what to do with or where they go.

I use an ever so slightly modified Hamster index. The index.txt syntax is pretty simple, so anyone could probably make it. I've been meaning to index all of the plugins with a better structure.

Most of the time I just click and start typing the name of the plugin, unless I'm searching for something unusual.

that's the one i am using ... but it includes all machines i know about.

Found my old one on the HD finally though. Not sure if it's from buzzmachines originally but I don't think so.
It does a great sorting among the machines and helps me, the amateur, by giving some kind of rank by putting + behind extra reliable machines and sorting unstable ones under "danger".

The problem is this:

1. I have 2 installations of Buzz. The first one have this indexationfiles but this buzzinstallation won't upgrade beyond 1481. Everytime I start the program it asks me if I want to upgrade and when I click yes the process of upgrading starts but when it's ready it's still 1481.

2. The other, new version that I have installed instead upgrades perfectly but here I can't get the indexing going. I've copied index.txt to the root folder so it looks like installation 1 but still nothing happens. I also found a file called index.plur so I copied that one to but that didn't do anything that I could see.

Please help me and let me know what kind of obious mistake I'm doing.

Ok. I have now realized that the index I'm talking about is hamsters but part from that...
I'be gone through all the files in the root of both my installations and the only difference I found part from hamsters readme-file is that the installation that won't upgrade has en extra .exe called buzz_avx...

What on earth am I missing?

OK. All apologies for the posts above.
Apparently when I did the old install I put the index in the root AND the gear for some reason and since I now found the indexfile in the root I assumed that this is where it should go.

I now realize that the index shall be placed in the GEARfolder so now everything works fine.

Still I think it's strange that the old install won't upgrade....

Just installed a clean new buzz 1499.

Search is purely alphabetical.
Index allows you to costumize/organize/structure the machine list.

*super necro bump* Curious to know if there are any index's that are still getting updated. Comparing my current index.txt from the ones available I think I'm using the 'wizenwet' index from 2006 as it seemed the most logical in its categorisation for my workflow. So given the date you can imagine I've quite a few 'unsorted's

this is pretty up to date (and really newer than the date of the file says), but it has a special approach.
It is sorted on the fourth level by developers of the machine, for instance:
Generators / Synthesizers / Subtractive / Bigyo / Earth Plate

There are some unsorted machines too.

Ps. What's the best way to tweak indexes - old fashioned Notepad/text editor, or is there a (recent-ish) Buzz Machine index utility that works better than manually editing ?

There is Buzzindexer, it is not super easy but way better than manually edittung a text file.
You have to set the buzz directory
