reversing samples with utrk

Post by szaszhareen »

i have a drum pattern in utrk and i'd like to play a crash sample in reverse and stretch it to 16 ticks. I've tried commands 08 and 0e, but they don't work on tick 0 where the crash is triggered, they only work on tick 1. once the sample is playing in reverse, i can't really stretch it because it reverses while the sample is playing forward and just plays back to the beginning instead of stretching out.

I really just need a simple way to stretch and reverse a crash sample to act as a buildup at the end of a drumloop, and i think utrk will work. am i doing something wrong with utrk, or should i just use something else?

thanks! :D

10 .. .. .... .... C-3 01 .. .. 08 0100 .. ....

in Utrk the above sets subdivide to 10 and 08 0100 makes the sample stop after 16 ticks where the beginning is.
and it works for every note (pitch !)

.. don't know why it doesn't work for you.

probably because i didn't set tick subdivide to anything and didn't have anything in the argument column. thanks! :)

since i'm not using the stretch to x ticks column, this was a little counterintuitive to me, so i have one more question to make sure i understand what i'm doing.

let's say i want to stretch the reversed sample to 32, 64, or 128 ticks. how should i change the tick subdivide and argument columns to reflect this?

10 .. .. .... .... C-3 01 .. .. 08 0400 .. ....
would make it stretch to 64 ticks
10 .. .. .... .... C-3 01 .. .. 08 0800 .. ....
would make it stretch to 128 ticks

(I guess that for the sake of versatileness,
Unwieldy tracker has no virtual channels like Matilde has,
so I still use Matilde very often.)

(so, in my opinion:
drums: Unwieldy tracker or SampleGrid
melodic stuff, chords: Matilde tracker)

Never did figure this out by the way. I'm not sure if other people have a different build of utracker, or what else could be different.
None of the standard tricks work for reversing samples. Maybe the difference is that I'm using samples with loops set. In previous versions of buzz it would reverrse pass the start of the sample if a loop was set. Now it barely reverses at all.
