Is there any way to have Buzz load with the "Play Notes" checkbox disabled by default? Lost count of the number of times I've shocked my ears by accidentally adding some high notes after cranking the volume way up to work on some subtle harmonics elsewhere in the song.

not at this time. i've had similar issues, i started placing jeskola limiter before the master and dropping the cieling a bit to save my ears from this kind of thing.

Yeah I always throw a limiter on the master when composing for that reason. You can always remove it when you start mixing.
