A 'How To' forum

Wouldnt it be interesting to add a forum here where buzzers can ask 'how to' do this or that ?
By example how to use peer machines, how to enable midi, and so on.

I would find that invaluable, although probably a lot of the information could be stickied with links to the buzzwiki and other sources (since that's how I found out how to do it). But yeah, for some of the more obscure functions a forum would be great.

That is a pretty good idea, but also the wiki does seem like a more efficient way of sharing info...we should start encouraging everyone to use it.

How about a moderated thread with links to significant updates on the wiki? Updates with the content and contributer, and thanks the only things allowed for example. No tangents, tutorials, questions or answers accepted.

If something useful is written in a thread here, i.e. a list of new keystroke commands or tricks with a machine, someone could put the information up on the wiki and let us know.

Joachip: would you be happy with that? how's the spam etc?

Yeah, that looks great. As long as people can still ask questions that they can't find the answers to in the wiki in the main forums, then that should be enough I reckon. Much <3 to the wiki wizards.

Of course, the only reason I'm being such a bastard on the wiki updates thread is to keep things seperate. :) There are no bad questions imo, I just want new people to have an obvious and updated place to go to look things up.

Of course the wiki is THE place to use for buzz infos.
But I still think that if we have a very specific question, we can ask here.
By example someone ask something like 'how can I emulate the strumming of a guitar ?'
And then if there is an answer, it can be send to buzz wiki.
It would be a good way to make buzz wiki grows, no ?

absolutely, thats what I'm hoping will happen. :) (I'm pretty sure I learnt the strumming peerchord trick from one of your bmx's btw!)

That'd be a natural way of doing things, I think. There are specific questions that can't be answered just by looking at the wiki, generally regarding techniques for how to get a particular sound or effect. Or even general music theory that I think could be asked in the forums.
