RIP: That piece of music I was working on last night [FIXED]

So...last night I was working on a piece of music. It was pretty nice if you ask me. Many layers, so I saved a lot, I'm not stupid. This morning, I went to Buzzmachines and downloaded the latest machine pack. Figured it'd be up to date (it did say 2011), so I clicked "yes to all" on whether to replace existing machines.
Then when I opened Buzz, it told me my Polac VST loader is old. Oh well, I thought, so I closed Buzz, deleted all the Polac VST loader files and re-extracted the latest loader.
I started Buzz again. Opened the file I was working on last night.
Sequence view - empty.
Patterns - empty.
Wavetable - empty.
I noticed some of the machines were unplugged.
I opened the auto-backup file. Same thing there.
What happened?
Is there any way at all to rescue this song, or should I just delete the file and forget about it?
EDIT: Problem solved! There were a bunch of Bigyo effect machines in the generators folder in the buzzmachines pack. So...downloaders beware!

One of the machines in your project is a different version than the one you overwrote. Probably an updated one you downloaded from here or buzzchurch (mtrk, bigyo, ix, antonio, etc..). Whichever plugin that is, is up to you to figure out

. Overwriting wasn't the grandest of ideas..

It looks like I've lost a lot of projects. This is not good. This is not good at all.

You havent lost anything, you just need to restore your gear. Don't do something stupid like saving a file you are having this problem with and you'll be fine once you sort it out.

It seems something these tracks have in common is Bigyo Parametric EQ.
How do I find out what version I had? And where can I get it back?

I think mute is probably right. Here's something to try:
rename your Generators and Effects folders to something else
create new, empty Generators and Effects folders
start Buzz
load a song that you think you have lost the data for
ignore the missing machine warnings
Did your patterns, etc. reappear?
Now one-by-one start copying machines over and check again. Continue until you identify problem machine(s)

The version of ParamEQ that's at Buzzmachines is ok. Do you also use 2p Filter? He updated that as well, but its only on the forum. A friend of mine was having a similar problem (machines disconnected) with any bmx that had 2p filter in it.
You could do as suggested above, but instead of starting from scratch, remove one suspect machine at a time. e.g. If you think it my be ParamEQ, remove it from gear then restart Buzz/try to open the BMX and ignore the missing machine errors.

Sort of. All the patterns are empty. But everything's plugged in, and the wavetable and sequence are back.

...how will this identify the problem machine exactly? I brought everything back (in a smaller project with the same problem), and the sequence view didn't go away.
In any case, I suspect it's Bigyo ParamEQ, but I tried all the versions on buzzmachines, and none helped. Is there another version somewhere?

I have not the 2p filter in question. The only machines used in one of the lost projects were:
Bigyo ParamEQ
Matilde Tracker
Geonik's Expression 2
FSM PhatMan
Whitenoise's Drummer
Joachims Overdrive

I feel like such an idiot. I have no idea how many projects I may have lost, all because I had the stupid impulse of updating my machine library.

it wasn't the impulse to update, it was the overwriting of your gear that was the mistake
your songs aren't lost, don't know about you but I wouldn't rest until I had it sorted..
why not try uploading one of the bmx's for someone to try

some time back i made a tool that "catches save processes" in the background.
you set up a folder for the program to monitor and whenever you save the file (assuming it already exists) the filename gets extended by a counter
(_01.bmx, _02.bmx, ...)
so when you use <ctrl + s> all the time you end up having savestates in your projectfolder instead of overwriting the original.
but it was too buggy/unreliable so i did not release it.
however this might inspire some of you since for a real coder it should be an easy task.

loads fine here.. there are several versions of fsm's machines @ buzzmachines, i would go through those
patterns missing usually has to do with a generator though in my experience.. you sure you re-re-downloaded mtrk?
i'd do this;
update fsm machines
update mtrk
run buzz installer
update polac vst from his site (
http://www.xlutop.com/buzz/zip/beta/pvst_v1.1.10b22.zip )
restart computer

also check that you dont have those machines in both effects and generators (the problem i had when i dl'd a superpack over my own messy collection of machines)

Could you do me a small favor? Could you create some copies of the .bmx file, one where you delete the PhatMan, one where you delete the ParamEQ's and one where you delete the MTrk's, and then upload them? Might be a good way for me to check what's not working.
