menu – submenu problem

Post by Klangkulisse »

Right click on maschine view window to open menu (for a new machine) in the very far right of the machine view window causes a little problem:
The submenu opens usually on the right side of the parent menu, when you get too close to the right border of the machine view window, it jumps to left side. So far, so good. But trying to move to that left sided submeni fails, it closes before you can reach it. As a matter of course you can avoid it by clicking always in the farer left side of the machine window, but yes, who is thinking that far ahead :D

I noticed a little gap between the highlighted selection and the submenu (see red arrow), that does not appear between parent menu and right sided submenu (see blue arrows).May be, that's the cause. it occurs with the default theme or any other modded theme

Is it a bug in buzz or something in my general window settings, which I am not aware of?
I am using buzz 1502, my monitor is set to 1920 x 1080 px

Reproduced on Windows 7, 64-bit. The tiny gap is indeed causing the problem.

When moving the pointer from "Generator" to "Fuzzpilz Parsley" very slowly, the mouse falls into the "hole" causing
the menu to close. This is unfortunate.

If you move the mouse really fast, you can actually make it - just like how skateboarders can traverse gaps by going
fast enough!

I'm not sure if anything can be done about this though? It may be controlled entirely by Windows and not Oskari.

Well, I am not a skater ;). Sometimes jumped over the gap too moving very fast, but mostly stumbled – may be I should learn skating. :P
Thanks for investigating though.
Forgot to mention: windows 7 64-bit, but using buzz 32-bit

Guys I tried to get over the gap by doing a flick flip but I took a slam and I really hurt myself bad. My hands are permanently ruined and I'll never play music again. How could you do this to me? Not everyone can be a superman...

What are the chances that this will be fixed? I don't want anyone else to have to go through this hell.

Well if I'm right about this being a bug in Microsoft's UI code, I think it's safe to assume it will never be fixed. And in 20 years from now, people will say "it's by design, and it's actually quite useful" the same way they currently do about the scrollbar bug.

It's because you have window drop shadows disabled. There's no gap normally because of the couple of the couple of pixels of shadow there.

But probably won't get fixed, yes. :)

You can fix the ilkke machines (extended) theme by changing line 628 in SimpleMenu.xaml to: HorizontalOffset="-1"

HorizontalOffset="-1" does the trick :dance:
No more speed skating to sub menus. Thank you!

May be I take that as the title for my next track: Horizontal Offset -1
