Buzz Conference - many questions

Post by magmavander »

Hello,

as maybe you have yet read it, I have to make a conference about Buzz in my town.
To present the "classic" use of Buzz, I mean writing/arranging/producing music, it is ok. I will show how Buzz works, how to use it and many tools and tricks.
But to me whats makes Buzz so interesting and unique today is all these tools we have that are dedicated to live playing, imrovisation, generative music, writing help, xbox pad and leap motion (I have one), etc. But it's a part of Buzz I didnt know that well. So I will have a bunch of questions to ask you all.

Ok, let's go.
First question (tinga ?) :
How to use peertrig with microphone ?
Check these tinga's demo :

https://youtu.be/2iu17Lh4AmE

https://youtu.be/vTzLzmlnB7E

My main idea is to use an accoustic guitar with a microphone to trigger fx and/or better to trigger notes on synths in Buzz (or to trigger Scalewalker/peerscale).

Thanks!!

God Bless BTDSYS
I never tried his LiveJumpHACK machine and it's a very cool way to play live very simply 8-)

I would like to know more about Relativion and Jeskola Live.
How to change the scale in Relativion and how to play multiple patterns from different gens at once in Live ?

Thanks!

 Sorry, I see your message just today.
PeerTrig is absolutely awesome, this is very simple, polac asio in for micro input, maybe an additional gain, peertrig, and what you want after, peerscale or scalewalker, for assignment, peertrig---->peer me (in peerscale), a generator, if you want I give you the bmx for all the video, 5 mn templates, but so funny, leap motion + micro input=trigger velocity, if you use many tracks, it's great.
Relativion works on chromatic scale, If you want scales, use it with a scale filter, scale snapper (Snowglobe) is perfect for that, Relativion is great with midi keyboard, it can reproduce many "cliche" used in improvisation, there is a relativion in Scalewalker, so many things in this terrific machine...
I prefer these videos, same template than the 2 other crappy things

Merci Tinga!!

THANKS FOR THE HELP

I have problem making Polac Asio In to work with my microphone. My microphone works as I can hear it when it's connected.
I have a SoundBlaster Live! 24-bit external (usb connected). Ok it's an old one

I'm a bit confused also because I have several Polac Asio In and a Polac Audio In (1,2,3,4 in picture), this last one got the name Polac Asio In when it's put in Machine View. I suppose the right ones are those that are like VST (see picture). And when I right-click on the Polac Asio In I have "empty" in "Inputs" (5 in picture), I cant see my microphone...

Is it the card the problem (usb ?), maybe it cant handle with input (microphone) and output (playing sounds, like in Buzz) in the same time ?

I use the Polac Asio as Wave Output in Preferences.

Thanks in advance.

It seems you use an old Polac audio in, new audio in is multi out, and there is a gain in parameter window. My sound card is 16 years old, and no trouble with 8 in 8 out, I send you bmx this evening, probably a link here. (The old version doesn't work for me, maybe for old version of Buzz)
There is also Jeskola wave in interface, but it's not asio, more delay, I like so much Buzz, always several solution...

I cant make your bmx working.

I have some missing machines (see pictures).
But that's not a big deal I guess, because I can replace the missing PeerScale by another one I suppose.
But which version of Peerscale are you using ?

Can the Kibibu Simple Gain be replaced by Kibibu Stereo Gain ?

I have found the Polac vst control but it looks like a vst (it has the skin), it is in gens folder.

When the microphone is connected, do I have to hear it in Windows ? I mean do I have to check the checkbox in properties ? (Check the picture "ecouter").

Also here are pictures of ASIO setup. I use Polac Asio as wave output.
I see that I have an "out" working in the asio control panel but not an "in".
Sorry...

Sorry Mag just me, I dunno exactly what's the reason that the Mic-in doesn't show up in the configuration of Polacs ASIO. It seems you have enabled it in the settings of Windows and I'm almost convinced you activated it as a recording source ... did you already try your onboard soundchip? I'm so sorry, but I have no experience with external cards, only know some may not work with ASIO4all, just google ... hope others can help ... Xlutop should know a lot about that stuff ... anyway, good luck for your setup ...

Thanks buzztler!

It's getting a bit better. I have re-installed the SB Live! driver and now it's working 8-)
Well not the tinga's bmx, unfortunately, I have to investigate more.
But I have tried this : Audio In >> PeerTrig assigned to PeerScale's PeerMe assigned to vst and if I use the microphone I can make the vst to play
But... The PeerMe is not working. I am playing always the same note...

If you want notes change, you have to rule 2 params in peertrig, Volume and Dynamics, peertrig is terrific, in fact this machine is a little bit mysterious for me, 2 params I never used record and switch value, record seems to be for the pattern editor, sensitivity is very important.
my bmx is just nothing, the more simple setup, use 96000 for low latency, of course Polac Asio in preference, I exclusively use this driver, all Polac stuff is great.
