What are you listening to?
Since theres no "misc" forum, and it doesnt exactly say this section is just for user-created music.. and afterall, if we didn't appreciate music in the first place, what other reason for us to be here would there be? ... seems appropriate to have this thread here. Plus, it'll pull a few in that don't often check out music posts.

Re: What are you listening to?
Electronic.. I've actually been going through the Thinner netlabel archives because I haven't checked them out in a couple years. http://www.thinner.cc
...Plus Marko Fürstenberg always has some nice minimal tech/dub in store - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E531f4jMlUA
Other..
David Lynch, I know - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7K3Nbp6nuRk&
Was not impressed with his videos or songs with Moby, but I'm diggin this track alot.
Also..Studio One MCs/DJs dropping live verse on classic riddims, such as
Prince Francis, Sidewalk Doctor - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ou6GMc4Aqx8
Carey Johnson, Correction Train - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uvXG1Y65aRo
(really gotta get this shit elsewhere though, the youtube rips do not do justice quality wise)

Re: What are you listening to?
Last night I was banging on about how Keith Jarrett did a couple of incredible solo preformances, in La Scala in particular. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wO9si26qB0s Listening to that album again now and it still takes my breath away after years of playing it. (seriously, even if you think all music should be 4/4 and all electronic, listen to that album/live recording)

Re: What are you listening to?
There is one album from KJ I like a lot, it's Arbour zena. It's a mix of classical and jazz, I have it as an original vinyl record, I listened to it hundred of time. I guess it influences me a lot.
Speaking of vinyl, I have a fantastic one from Miles Davis (that I have seen two times in concert, he he he...) it's "Circle in the round" in which he covers a song from david crosby (you know, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young) called Guinnevere. A fantastic cover, misunderstood by the critics when he made it :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tFOMHWQ27tQ
Miles improvised for a french movie in the sixties, called "Ascenseur pour l'Echafaud", he improvised while watching the movie :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XQ4l4oRkh_8
I think this album is a classic in jazz music. It's the quintessence of jazz cool.

Re: What are you listening to?
i've been listening to gesamtlaufzeit a lot lately. definitely some good stuff there.mute wrote:...Marko Fürstenberg...
right now i'm listening to backjam (jennyrave remix) [thoke magmavander koalapanx] that i downloaded from buzztunes. i've got it looping and have probably been listening to it for an hour now. i love all the stuff that jennyrave has released, i wish there were more.
i've been spending too much time at work lately and have been subjected to a lot of awful music via pandora radio. its unfortunate that a music service that is so popular is so obviously bought and paid for by the same people that program commercial fm radio in the US. i've had to listen to more adele than anyone should ever have to endure.
at a recent karaoke party i screamed bloody murder and left the room when someone started singing "someone like you". heres hoping 2012 is adele-free

Adem - 'Launch Yourself' - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FeUQ6FtGPAo
I've always loved this song. The multilayered vocals and syncopation really pay off.. not so big on his other tracks (more acoustic guitarish). But this is a fav.

Re: What are you listening to?
A very old vinyl Motörhead-LP "Ace Of Spades" ... I brush it up and recycle it at the moment, e.g remove all scratches, loops , crackles, noise etc. with the help of Buzz and some tools ... meanwhile it sounds really good again ...
Furthermore I listen to the hamst3r: "Blue Portals Music" you can find it via his wellknown hamsteralliance-webpage ...
