I upgraded, but now Cheapo Amp keeps crashing

Post by Low Entropy »

Hello,
New user here. Until recently, I used an older version of Buzz that I ran on a computer I purchased in 2012 (operating system was Windows 7).
A few months ago I finally decided to get a new computer, now with Windows 11.
I saw there was a new version of Buzz available, so I installed that one.

It seems there was a lot of improvement and changes that I missed out on in these 12 years ;-)
While this is quite nice, it's also hard getting used to it.
One of the problems I encountered is that when I try to load my older files and projects, a lot of them crash when there are certain machines inside these.
For example, Buzz always crashes when I try to load Cheapo Amp or Sea Cucumber.
Does anyone know what is going on, or maybe even has a potential fix for this?

Any help is appreciated on this :-)

Perhaps have look over here:

If you can't find the fixkit try to get the dll's somewhere, and put them in your Buzz-directory, perhaps copy them from your old Install of Buzz ... should work (imo)

Thanks! That fixed it indeed!
At least for Cheapo Amp - it still crashes with any project that uses Sea Cucumber.

Some Buzzers already posted some hints on how to detect missing dll's here in the forum.
They proposed to download and run "depends.exe" from the website "dependencywalker.com", I hope it still works with win 11 ... it helps you to identify missing dll's.
In general it is recommended to Install all the old and newest .NET, vcr-redistributables 32&64bit and all the old mfc files to have a chance to run most of the old BMX/BMW files and the old machines.
Also Buzz tells you sometimes, if you have a gen or effect in the wrong folder ... this happens also to more experienced Buzzers and let's Buzz sometimes crash immediatly ... so good luck to you, and perhaps someone else has a special solution for the seacucumber ...
