A problem since I'm on Win7

Post by magmavander »

I have a problem opening songs that included the free version of the vst SampleTank. I use it a lot and it would be bad to me to lose these songs.
It seems that it wasnt anymore registered, I used the provided authorisation tool with success.
But the problem still remains. See screen capture. Anyone have an idea ?

I had a similar issue with Sampletank. I searched for a solution, found your post... and then stumbled on a fix.
After right-clicking Buzz.exe and selecting "Run as Administrator", Sampletank loaded OK.
Hopefully it will work for you too.

I have had this issue with many other VSTs. I have also noticed that scanning for new vsts that you have installed and having them show up can be tricky as well if you are not running as administrator, but maybe that is an issue if you are like me and have a separate c:\vst like folder. I set the whole program to run as admin.

Older Native Instruments plugins have this bug as well, but NI fixed it in most of their stuff not too long ago. Running as Admin can also break some plugins. It's user/namespace issue. Alot of it has to deal with the fact that people install things in Program Files\. I've never installed Hosts or VST plugins to Program Files, so I've never run into the problem. I typically use drive:\buzz\gear\vst and then point my other hosts to the same location.
