Hey, trying to get back into buzz using the new version jeskola posted.... I noticed in trusty old unwieldytracker, the "5" effect doesn't seem to work for me anymore - samples play forward instead of in reverse. This happens in both the 64 bit "experimental" and regular version.
Is this because of changes in the new version of buzz? Or is it possible I somehow have an older / bad copy of that generator? (Created date on my version of the generator is 1/31/2006, 104KB)
kinda a minor thing but curipous since the plugin seems to otherwise work without a hitch
thanks,
Pete
playing samples in reverse not working in new buzz
Re: playing samples in reverse not working in new buzz
You might try using the old pattern editor to see if that makes any difference. (In buzz pattern editor, select <built in> editor).petec wrote:Hey, trying to get back into buzz using the new version jeskola posted.... Might also be that you need to set a sample offset when using reverse (you need to do this in Matilde at least).
Personally, I haven't been using Unwieldy tracker for quite some time (iirc it was due to its lack of 24bit sample support). Matilde probably is a better choice for the time being. Less buggy, and 24bit support.
Re: playing samples in reverse not working in new buzz
thanks, I tried the original editor but no dice : (
strangely, I Think it might work when the reverse command is on a subsequent row AFTER the note, however it does not work if the effect command is on the same row as the note
(this works fine in the OG version).
Pretty strange issue... might drop fuzzpilz a line tho I doubt he's still updating this
I didn't realize mtracker was still being developed/had surpassed utracker, will give it a look-see.

Re: playing samples in reverse not working in new buzz
It works fine..
You need to offset the sample first to where you want the reverse to begin. Example; put FFFF in the offset column, then do a 05 (or 08 0000) on the same row with the note.
05 is 'reverse now', which is what you are seeing. If a sample is playing already, you can put a 05 anywhere a couple ticks after the note trigger and it will automatically reverse from the current play position. 08 is a more manual affair. But, for reversing on the note you can use either 05 or 08. I always used 05. Just specify the offset in the offset column first, mandatory.
Mtrk works basically the same way as Utrk's 05, but you use 09 XX for the offset.
ex: C-4 .. E8 01 09 FF
or..
C-4 .. .. .. .. ..
... .. .. .. .. ..
... .. .. .. E8 01 ("reverse now")
... .. .. .. ..

Re: playing samples in reverse not working in new buzz
Sorry I never replied to this, btw I know how utracker is supposed to work with this effect, I use it a lot
either using 08 XXXXXXXX or 05 plus a start offset on the same row (or start offset + 08 + end offset) no longer works in Buzz x64 on windows 7... also, even using 05 on a subsequent row ends up "resetting" after a certain number of rows. this happens for the new and old pattern version.
I just tried in an old version (Buzz Beta 1.2) and it worked perfectly fine.
